In 2023, I was honoured to be featured in the landmark
100th edition of NZ Life & Leisure.
The eight-page story shared our family's move from Melbourne to Ōamaru, our unexpected leap into the world of sanitation, the creation of She Hunts Op Shops, and the joys and challenges of building a life in a small New Zealand town.
The feature also included my photography, which has forever been my favourite way of telling stories and preserving the beauty found in everyday moments. Seeing our journey captured in the pages of a magazine I had admired for years was a truly special experience and remains one of the highlights of my career.

Seven Sharp Feature
In 2020, my husband Sean and I made the unexpected leap from Melbourne to Ōamaru to purchase a sanitation business. What followed was six years of hard work, early mornings, long days, and more conversations about portaloos than either of us ever imagined possible.
Together, we owned and operated Awamoa Sanitation from 2020 to 2026, providing portable toilet and sanitation services across North Otago and beyond.
As a family-run business, we built a reputation for reliable service, community involvement, and a willingness to tackle the less glamorous side of life with humour and pride.
Our unusual journey attracted media attention, and our story was featured on Seven Sharp, sharing the realities of running a sanitation business and the adventure of swapping city life for small-town New Zealand.
While it wasn't the career path I ever expected, it became one of the most challenging, rewarding, and memorable chapters of our lives.

For two years, I wrote the op shop section for the delightful Junkies Magazine and Reuse It Magazine, combining my love of photography, storytelling, secondhand treasures, and family adventures.
Each issue featured my articles and photographs, taking readers along on op shopping adventures through New Zealand and Australia.
From tiny country op shops to sprawling treasure troves, I shared favourite finds, hidden gems, quirky characters, and the stories behind the objects we bring home.
The column became a celebration of sustainable living, creativity, and the magic that can be found when you slow down and look a little closer.
